Jewish Mixology with Jhos: “The Michael Twitty” Cocktail | JCCSF

Celebrate with a Signature Cocktail

What better way to celebrate our first-ever Day of Giving than with a signature cocktail from our Maggid and resident mixologist, Jhos Singer, in honor of our good foodie friend and supporter, James Beard award-winning chef Michael Twitty.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe strawberries
  • 1 large sprig of mint
  • 1 large sprig of dill
  • ¼ oz molasses
  • 2 oz bourbon (Kentucky if possible; I.W. Harper is a good choice)

Instructions

  1. In the bottom of a Boston or cobbler shaker, muddle one strawberry with the molasses, extracting the juices as much as possible.
  2. Add the mint and dill, gently bruising the herbs with the muddler.
  3. Pour in the bourbon and fill the shaker with ice. Seal it and shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds, until the shaker becomes very cold and frosty.
  4. Double strain into a small ice-filled old-fashioned tumbler (using a Hawthorne strainer and a small kitchen strainer).
  5. Make a cut in the remaining strawberry and hang it on the rim of the glass.
  6. If you’re feeling fancy, drop a sprig of mint in alongside the strawberry.

L’Chaim!
